OPC UA Link

Browse server nodes and map values to tags.

OPC UA server nodes, through Connection Service, to Mapped tags in the project.OPC UA server nodesConnection ServiceMapped tags

Set it up

  1. Start the Connection Service. Stop the PLC and add an OPC UA Link.
  2. Choose a supported connection or enter the Custom OPC server endpoint. Complete the connection settings shown for that server.
  3. Connect and browse the server’s nodes. Map the values you need to project tags with matching types.
  4. Check access rights before choosing a write mapping. Watch a known read value first.
  5. Run the project and check both the value and its connection status. Reconnect when the connection lease ends.

Check before you run

  • The browser talks to the Connection Service on this computer; the Connection Service talks to the server.
  • Custom OPC accepts a unicast server address, subject to the Connection Service checks and its 30-minute connection lease.
  • A node being visible in the browser does not mean it can be written. Use a node the server permits your connection to write.

If it will not connect

Check the Connection Service indicator, the device or server address, and the Link’s diagnostics. A saved mapping does not mean the device is connected. Stop the PLC before changing the Link.
