Steps
A step is one state. While it is active, its actions run and its status tag is on.
Kinds of step
| Step | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Initial step | Where the chart starts, and where it returns after a reset. Drawn with a double border. One per chart. |
| Step | Each state the logic waits in, with the actions to run there. |
| Dummy step | A small step with no actions, to join or space out paths. |
The status tag
Create chart tags names each status tag after the routine and the step number. In a routine called Mixer, step ST002 gets Mixer_ST002.
Read it anywhere, like any BOOL. XIC Mixer_ST002 on a rung is true while ST002 is active. Only the chart writes it.
In the Inspector
- Rename, Make initial or Delete step. The initial step cannot be deleted.
- Add action attaches logic to the step.
- Time limit flags a step that stays active too long. The chart does not move on because of it.
